1. Get familiar with Dashboard

To get familiar with the Dashboard, you first need to understand the KPIs available. There are several KPIs you can choose from depending on what you want to keep an eye on. This may vary depending on what industry you are in.

For example, as an IT company or IT department of a company, you probably send your hardware out for maintenance fairly often since failure to do so would result in a loss of time and money.

However, once an asset is out for maintenance, its unavailability will most likely disrupt your work plans.

In such a situation, it would be helpful if you could view which assets are unavailable and when their maintenance is expected to complete. This way, you can efficiently plan your work accordingly around the unavailability of such assets, thereby avoiding any loss of time.

To help you with this scenario, it would make sense for you to choose KPIs such as ‘Assets in Maintenance’ or ‘Assets Maintenance Ending Today’ to display on your Dashboard.

2. Customize the Dashboard

The Dashboard offers you greater customizability because you now have the power to choose which KPIs you want to view.

You can also choose where to place the KPI cards and for what custom time period you want to display the metrics. We’ll show you how to do all this, and more, as we move ahead.

To begin, you need to first select which KPIs you want to display on the Dashboard. To do just that, click on the ‘Edit’ button shown in the image below.

After you click the ‘Edit’ button, the following dialogue box, called ‘Dashboard Settings’ opens up. You can scroll down the Settings menu to see the entire list of available KPIs and other options available to choose from.

Note: Once you select the KPI you want to display, you must click on the ‘Update’ button. This ensures that the options you choose are saved and implemented.

Apart from the list of important KPIs, the ‘Dashboard Settings’ also has other additional cards you can select to track various events. These include:

Let’s take a closer look at some of the additional cards available. The ‘Locations Map’ can help you visually trace where all your IT Assets are present.

The ‘Latest Events’ provides you information about almost every event taking place, such as upcoming Reservations, Assets checked out, and much more.

Then there is the ‘Dashboard Calendar’ to keep a bird’s eye view of IT Asset tracking and operational workflows.

4. Flexible metric cards

The Dashboard offers you great flexibility, allowing you to move the metric cards around as you wish.

With this important feature, you can now place the most important KPIs at the top. This way, you can ensure that the most vital information is what you see when you log in to your account.

You can change the placement of the metric cards when the Dashboard is in the ‘Edit’ mode.

Let’s look at an example to better understand the flexibility of the Dashboard.

Most companies need to keep track of the money they’re spending on hardware maintenance services. This helps them trace which equipment is raking up too much maintenance costs and would be cheaper to simply replace it instead.

In such a situation, you’re going to need a metric that shows you the total cost of services so far, depending on what time period you select.

Therefore, you can easily select and drag the Services Total Cost metric card to the top row, where it is easily visible.

5. Display KPIs for a custom time range

Let’s carry forward the above example of keeping an eye on the ‘Services Total Cost’ KPI. You will come across situations where you need to view this KPI either for the past week, or the past month, and so on.

Viewing KPIs for a particular time period is something you can easily achieve with the Dashboard.

Right next to the ‘Edit’ button, there is a drop-down menu. This menu displays various time periods for you to choose from. You can also set a custom range for which you want to display the metrics.

AssetSonar is an ITAM-focused product. This is why we’re continuously enhancing our Dashboard to include metrics specific to managing and tracking IT assets and software licenses.

To begin, you need to first select which KPIs you want to display on the Dashboard. To do just that, click on the ‘Edit’ button shown in the image below.

7. Enable add ons for more KPIs

Apart from the default KPIs available in the Dashboard Settings menu, there are also some additional KPIs available. However, you can only select them and display them on the Dashboard after you enable the pertinent Add Ons.

In order to enable an Add On, for example, the Inventory Module one, you have to go to Settings → Add Ons → Inventory Module and select Enabled.
